Letter to Ministers of Education and Revenue

To Mrs. Courchesne, Minister of Education and

M. Bachand Minister of Finance and Revenue

Hello,
Your government has indicated, repeatedly, that rising tuition fees had no effect on university enrollment.

A- I want you to know that this is the graduation rate to be observed. And rising tuition 1990-1995 had a negative effect on graduation rates in Quebec.

B- Resulting in losses of tens of billions of revenues to different levels of government since the increase.

Accordingly:

1- Would you please send me a copy of the forecast balance of savings in expenditure by the Department of Education, following the proposed increase, Tuition for 50 years?

A- And the cost of additional interest on loans, fees for additional scholarships, charge for loans in default that will be reimbursed by the Government.

B- Including loss of income taxes and taxes for different levels of government, following the decrease in the number of university graduates, as major taxpayers.

C- Including the costs caused by rising unemployment, rising insurance costs social, rising costs of mental health, source reduction of taxes – following the reduction of business creation by academics and reducing start-ups with foreign and local investments – lack of sufficient skilled labor, etc.

2- and also please tell me what steps you have planned to help part-time students in case of rising tuition? The increase 1990-1995 causing a decrease 20 % the number of part-time students and that number was never restored to 50 % the number of students enrolled, as was the case before the rise of 1990.
